The University of Washington School of Public Health (SPH) is seeking a transformative leader to Chair of the Department of Health Systems and Population Health (HSPop) who is expected to support the mission of creating a future where health systems effectively, efficiently, and equitably promote the health of all populations. The Chair will lead a group of highly qualified and committed faculty, staff, and students of diverse backgrounds, many of whom are strong and emerging leaders in their fields. The Chair will work the faculty, staff, and students in partnership with alumni and partners in public health and health care systems, to prepare future health practitioners, managers, and researchers who will conduct the unfinished work of improving the well-being of communities in the United States and throughout the world. The Chair will be expected to support the continued expansion and evolution of the department, and embrace the core values of health equity, service to the public good, justice, collaboration, and excellence.
The successful candidate would be expected to bring innovative ideas to support HSPop in achieving its core mission of creating an environment that centers on diversity, equity, and inclusion; nurturing career development of faculty and staff; recognizing and supporting the success of all faculty, staff, and learners; and strengthening relationships with community partners.
The position is tenured with appointment at the rank of Professor. This position is full-time (100% FTE) with an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. The anticipated start date is January-July 2023. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The base salary range for this position will be $13,334-$29,584 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a lump sum moving allowance and/or a relocation incentive, and an administrative supplement (ADS) of $25,008 per year for serving as Department Chair.
Candidates must have a blend of experience leading academic programs as well as practice-based/community-oriented programs/units. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in public health or another relevant field with a focus on community health, health systems, health services research, and/or population health.

The Department of Health Systems and Population Health is home to several degree programs including PhD Program in Health Services, Master of Health Administration, Executive Master of Health Administration, Master of Public Health, Community-Oriented Public Health Practice, Master of Science, Master of Health Informatics and Health Information Management.
