Position Summary:

• Provides oversight for the SNAP-Ed program in Region 2 (Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer Counties).
• Responsible for developing, refining, and executing a business plan designed to ensure SNAP-Ed's continued sustainability, including the development and management of appropriate processes, budgets, accountability measures, evaluations of program effectiveness, meeting education and policy, systems, and environmental change strategy goals, timely submission of all reports, and the identification and successful pursuit of additional program resources as may be appropriate.
• Organize and manage appropriate efforts to advertise and promote SNAP-Ed and its associated activities.
• Manage and oversee staff in 4 counties to promote, run, and evaluate the activities of SNAP-Ed as required.
• Key to this position is to engage with various public and private institutions, agencies, and community organizations to determine and implement special program requirements, modifications, and innovations designed to meet the needs of the local community, the SNAP-Ed funder, technical assistance providers, evaluation team, Rutgers University, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, and the Department of Family & Community Health Sciences.
• Work with representatives from the State of New Jersey to ensure that all necessary paperwork and approvals are current and accurate, and that SNAP-Ed will meet all state and federal requirements for SNAP-Ed grantees, including a regional budget and regional evaluation efforts. Expected outcomes will include an annual budget and business plan, an evaluation of county outreach and staff performance, developing processes, creating systems to optimize efficiency and effectiveness, and creating comprehensive reports summarizing SNAP-Ed operations and detailing recommendations for improvements.
• Direct staff to engage, and where appropriate coordinate activities with, other public and private institutions, agencies, and community organizations whose missions include addressing issues of hunger and food insecurity. In doing so, this position will help to coordinate outreach and education to SNAP-eligible New Jersey residents.
• Direct SNAP-Ed staff as they engage with state, county, and community agencies and programs focused on evaluating and improving the local and regional food system.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Master's degree in an appropriately related field of nutrition, public health, or wellness, and an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates the knowledge, understanding, and skills required to organize and manage a large, successful regional nutrition grant project.
• A minimum of three years related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work independently and to multi-task.
• Strong time and project management skills are required, as are excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• RDN or CHES preferred.
• Ability to speak and write in English and Spanish
• Serve Safe certified
• Experience with federal, state, and emergency food assistance programs
• Knowledge of and experience with the SNAP-Ed program and SNAP-Ed Guidance Document
• Knowledge and experience related to budgeting and writing grant proposals
• Marketing and volunteer management preferred

Equipment Utilized:

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including proficiency with Excel.
• Experienced with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Webex, and Microsoft Teams.
• Comfortable utilizing appliances and kitchen supplies for cooking and food preparation with hands-on nutrition education lessons.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds. Will be required to participate in required occupational health and safety programs.
• The 'regular' workweek will routinely include occasional evening and/or weekend work.

Special Conditions:

• Successful completion of the Rutgers' Defensive Driving Course upon hire.
• Clean Driving Record
