In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. We are seeking a Technician, Environmental Health & Safety to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about healthcare as well as EHS!
Participate in Respiratory protection program, including respirator fit testing, staff training and data management.
Assist with hazard risk assessments relating to fire and life safety, water damage, Indoor Air Quality, etc.
Perform inspections of assigned safety equipment. Maintains records in compliance with NFPA, International Fire Code, FDNY, OSHA, and Joint Commission Standards.
Support the EHS Manager in coordinating annual inspection and required maintenance of portable fire extinguishers with vendor. Assists with coordination and implementation of inspection, testing and maintenance of other safety systems as needed.
Perform safety inspections, audits and facility safety surveillance as assigned. Initiates corrective actions where vital to achieve safety compliance.
Generate work order requests and follows up with responsible parties to Correct findings. Provides escort and assistance, including all requested paperwork during inspections conducted by regulatory agencies.
Support EHS managers by providing advised training on specific health and safety programs including fire safety awareness, hazardous materials management and occupational health and safety.
Respond to emergency incidents, fire and non-fire emergencies and assists with workplace investigations. In the event of a fire alarms activation, participate as a member of the MSK fire response team according to fire response procedures.
2-4 years of experience
Proven Understanding of building and fire codes, OSHA standards and National Fire Protection Association standards.
Proficient in the use of computers including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
FDNY Issued Certificate of Fitness F-53, S-95, W-07 (able to acquire within 3-6 months)
M-F 8 am to 4 pm, flexible hours including evening and weekend coverage when needed
