Budget Analyst
General Description:
Manage the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) accounts receivable daily deposits from outside vendor. Daily perform test validation of AR files for SAP upload to general ledger. Position is responsible for recording, reconciling, researching and transferring revenue received at the FJHM. Assist Sr. Financial Analyst with annual budget creation and submission to SOM for development departments. Assist Sr. Financial Analyst in overseeing the financial and other administrative job duties in the finance department. Back up three Budget Analyst which would include banking reconciliation, endowment set up, payroll processing and budget monitoring.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Reporting (80%)
Must be able to work independently and will be required to interact with representatives at various levels of the organization, responding timely to inquiries from internal and external sources in the review of accounting transactions and the resolution of discrepancies for accounts.
Uses various software applications to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports; responds to inquiries from departments concerning receipts that are not reflected in the account balances.
Communicates with third party vendor, department coordinators, and JHU Treasury Office personnel to identify and resolve key issues; responds to inquiries and checks accounting transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies; researches unapplied cash and prepares journal entries to transfer to the correct account.
Daily retrieve and manage accounts receivables, pull file from sftp site, reconcile and validate information before upload to general ledger.
Daily journal entries non-payroll cost transfer between divisions via KB15N, InterEntity, and IntraEntity.
Assist the Sr. Financial Analyst with annual budget submission for development departments to SOM.
Perform financial review and analysis of departments, monitor budget spending, reconcile accounts.
Responsible for creating and disseminating monthly expenditure and revenue budget reports. Provide other adhoc reports to Directors, Senior Management and Sr. Financial Analyst when requested.
Finance Department Support (20%)
Backup to the other three Budget Analyst in performing various functions within the finance department as needed. Review and assign roles and security in SAP. Initiator and or approver for documents such as travel, transfers, shopping carts, online payment request, payroll updates, Eforms for all the departments. Assist and serve as backup for endowment management. Review and audit department JPMorgan procurement and travel card charges monthly. Monitor and assist in maintenance of the FundNet website. Duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or other related field.
One year of related progressively responsible experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of related experience
Knowledge of SAP software and Hopkins Financial Systems.
Special Skills Knowledge & Abilities
Advance knowledge in the use of financial software applications, data bases, spreadsheets, and/or working processing required. Have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Have the ability to handle multiple assignments. Have knowledge of Microsoft applications, Outlook, Access, Excel and Word. Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, analyze information, and draw valid conclusions. Maintaining a high degree of professionalism, judgment and confidentiality. Microsoft applications, Outlook, Access, Excel, and Word. As well, JHU-specific accounting and reporting packages are a plus.
