The Clinical Research Contracting ORAN is seeking a Senior Contracts Associate who negotiates research contracts for the School of Medicine as part of the Office of Research Administration's Clinical Research Contracting group. The Senior Contracts Associate negotiates/drafts complex sponsored research agreements as well as confidentiality/nondisclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, and data use agreements for industry-supported clinical research projects.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
The Senior Contracts Associate works independently; reviews and edits contracts for completeness and compliance with university policies and applicable laws.
Drafts original contracts as needed.
Participates in the training/guidance of School of Medicine staff and faculty in research compliance.
Assists other Clinical Research Contracting staff in negotiations, drafting, and processing of complex sponsored research agreements and confidential disclosure agreements.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Advanced Degree (PhD, JD, MS) in related field and relevant specialized training. Additional education preferred especially related to clinical trials, sponsored research, contracting, science and intellectual property.
Three years experience with drafting and negotiation of research-related documents in a sponsored research environment or similar activities at a university, state /federal agency, or similar environment is required.
Additional experience and/or education preferred, especially related to clinical trials, sponsored research, contracting, and/or regulatory compliance.

Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency with sponsored research agreement drafting and negotiation required.
Formal training and experience in sponsored research administration, intellectual property management and related topics required.
Demonstrated ability to perceive administrative and regulatory issues and conceptualize how to find solutions and reach consensus and to complete complex tasks.
Work experience should demonstrate ability to comprehend administrative and regulatory issues in biomedical science, to conceptualize how to find solutions and research consensus and to complete complex tasks.
Experience and references should demonstrate past performance effectiveness.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and competent judgment.
Must be very organized, bright, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Must be self-confident, articulate and oriented to assisting faculty to succeed.
