We are seeking a CO Clinical Nurse. The Clinical Nurse will provide care to patients by performing wireless capsule endoscopy, anorectal manometry and hydrogen breath testing for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Greenspring Station.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Reviews the ordering physician's intake form for appropriateness and the completed history and physical for all performed procedures.
Screen paperwork for capsule endoscopy requests, review the patient's chart and diagnostic information to assess that labs and radiologic testing are being completed as per pre-deﬁned protocol.
Assists the Medical Office Coordinators with any pre-authorization process prior to scheduling procedures.
Downloads and pre-reads capsule studies, perform Smart Pill procedures and secure the dietary on-site prep for patients.
Downloads Smart Pill and facilitates electronic transfer of ﬁles.
Coordinates outpatient capsule endoscopies with referring provider when EGD-assisted insertion is necessary in cases of gastroparesis or swallowing disorders.
Counsels and teaches patients and family members in regard to disease process and expected outcomes of procedures.
Is responsible for maintaining and keeping inventory of supplies (Capsules, Smart Pill, anorectal manometry, breath tests). Organizing paperwork and ﬁles for statistical data and billing reference for the Capsule, Smart Pill, Anorectal Manometry and Hydrogen Breath Test program.
Participates in clinical trials in regards to aforementioned procedures

Computer Knowledge Expectations
The RN must have excellent computer/technology skills and the ability to trouble shoot when technology problems arise.
Must be able to operate computer to access email, computerized scheduling and documentation databases and other basic office support software.
Successfully completes all necessary EPIC training courses and all other applicable clinical software systems.
Completes all required HIPAA and other speciﬁed online training courses.
Other duties may be assigned by the employee's immediate supervisor, division management or a healthcare provider in order to ensure an efficient office that will assist the Division in fulﬁlling its mission.
Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
During an emergency, may be required to assist with lifting a patient.
Light Lifting (10-20 lbs) including assisting immobile/slow moving patients may be required within the scope of nursing duties.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The RN must demonstrate ability to work independently, problem solve and work as part of a team.
The RN must have excellent communication skills and customer service skills, be able to prioritize responsibilities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
The RN must have the ability to work with patients during uncomfortable testing procedures and coach them through the test with empathy and patience.
The RN must be able to prioritize responsibilities and be organized.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Individual must be a Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
Current American Heart Association CPR certiﬁcation required. Must maintain current licensure and certiﬁcation during duration of employment.
Acceptable completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date.
Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related discipline preferred.
