We are seeking a Research Technologist to assist with key experimental and organizational support of the daily activities in the lab. Laboratory activities include maintaining the inventory and ordering supplies, and handling of rodent animals. Responsibilities include guaranteeing proper function, storage and cleaning of lab equipment and instruments.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Monitors inventory levels and orders material and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and approved temperature storage.
Maintain the integrity of bio-products. Monitor temperatures and storage conditions, and transport in accordance with quality control and document control protocol.
Regularly work with couriers and Johns Hopkins loading dock staff, to ensure consistent and timely arrival of bio-products.
Immediately receive, sign, and process against inventory for packages from shipping companies. Cross reference packing slips to assure accuracy.
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
College Degree and experience in a biological laboratory.
Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
