The Department of Epidemiology in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a Senior Research Program Coordinator II. The Senior Research Program Coordinator II will independently manage the day-to-day data collection activities for a new study of people who use drugs in Baltimore. The research activities include coordinating all aspects of data collection and study recruitment and retention. This will consist of the design of new survey instruments, pilot testing surveys, correspondence with the Institutional Review Board (IRB), screening, enrolling, and obtaining informed consent from participants. This role will require collaboration and communication with various study staff members, a multidisciplinary investigator team, and project administrators.
This project requires persistence, attention to detail, and the individual to be self-motivated and to work and solve problems. Specific knowledge of survey methodology and design and interests in clinical and behavioral research related to substance use and infectious diseases is necessary to fulfill this role's responsibilities successfully. Manuscript authorship, participation in conferences, and other scientific research and training opportunities are available pending the candidate's interest.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct outreach, screening, and enrolling study participants.
Correspond with the IRB.
Create and revise survey instruments and harmonize with data captured from prior surveys and other similar existing studies.
Participate in the design and testing of databases to manage and store data.
Ensure quality assurance and quality control of all data collection tools.
Collaborate and communicate with various study staff members, multidisciplinary investigator team, and project administrator.
Special Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Able to prioritize complex assignments and complete tasks promptly.
Able to independently manage the execution of multiple activities and track progress.
Able to complete IRB compliance tasks for human subjects research.
Experience with survey data collection and knowledge of basic analysis of survey data.
Excellent organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, and bibliographic software.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Related Master's preferred.
Five years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with people who use drugs or similarly vulnerable populations.
Knowledge and experience with data collection occurring by phone, using mobile apps, or other electronic devices.
Experience with developing and monitoring protocols for research studies.
Mastery of survey research design and implementation.
