The Department of Environmental & Public Health Sciences (DEPHS) at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking an outstanding individual for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level in the Division of Epidemiology.

The DEPHS conducts world-renowned research in epidemiology, environmental health, and molecular genetics. Local resources include the nationally recognized Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (rated 2nd best overall Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report), Veterans Affairs Medical Center, United States Environmental Protection Agency's Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center, and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine partners with affiliated hospitals and other health care facilities with a large regional market share in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
The appointee will have the opportunity to become a member of the NIH-funded Center for Environmental Genetics (P30ES06096), Center for Clinical & Translational Science and Training (UL1TR001425), University of Cincinnati Cancer Center, CEPH accredited MPH program, and numerous other research centers. These Centers, along with availability of a broad range of research core facilities and numerous established population-based cohorts, offer a supportive environment for collaboration and to conduct state-of-the-art epidemiologic, genetic, and clinical research. Strong basic research programs in exposure assessment, molecular biology and toxicology, genetics, bioinformatics, data science (LINCS-BD2K center), pathology, immunology, and endocrinology are available for collaborative investigations as well as an NIEHS funded T32 training program in Molecular Epidemiology of Children's Environmental Health and a T42 Education Research Center funded by NIOSH.
The ideal candidate is expected to:
Utilize state of the art epidemiological methods which may include but is not limited to the identification of genomic and molecular biomarkers.
Participate in graduate (PhD, MS, MPH program) and post-doctoral advising, mentoring, and teaching.
Provide service to the Department and College of Medicine.
Doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related clinical or academic degree (MD, PhD, DrPH) from an accredited college or university.
At least two (2) years of advanced training and/or professional experience in epidemiology beyond the terminal degree.
Record of original epidemiological research.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Track record of extramurally funded research or the potential for sustained research funding.
Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of scientifically and culturally diverse backgrounds.
Interest in collaborations involving environmental health research.
Demonstrated interest in advising and mentoring graduate (PhD, MS, MPH) students and postdoctoral fellows.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with the subject matter.
Potential or demonstrated ability to successfully obtain externally funded research related to epidemiology.
