The Division of Bay Bayview Geriatric & Neuropsychiatry is seeking a Research Aide who under the direction of an Associate Professor will be responsible for providing clerical support in a research environment.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain patient/research subject files.
Assist with data entry into a computer database such as Microsoft excel.
Escort research subjects through study visits.
Participate in day-to-day clerical duties.
Assist research staff with the stress paradigm used in study visits.
Maintain a working knowledge of assigned study protocols.
Run errands/make deliveries.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Understands the importance/impact of data integrity in terms of patients, study results, costs, and scientific research in general.
Familiar with and committed to maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA and IRB standards.
Strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with others.
Commitment to culturally competent practices.
Stand, walk, or sit for an extended period of time.
Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard or touchscreen.
Communication skills using the spoken word.
Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
High school diploma/GED.
Some work experience.
General computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
