The Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University (the Center) is looking for an Associate Product Manager to join the Communications Practice. The first of its kind in the world, the Center aims to advance the field of public sector innovation by marrying cutting-edge practice with world class research in order to transform the culture of government, deliver exceptional results for residents, and inspire trust in public service. The Associate Product Manager supports the management and delivery of world-class digital tools and websites that help support government leaders and partners across the globe.
Our ideal candidate will have project management, research, and analytical skills and enthusiasm for helping develop technology solutions and workflow design. This practical and creative thinker will share their technical skills with cross-discipline teams supporting multiple high-priority projects concurrently with limited supervision. This role reports to the Center's Product Manager and works with content, client, and partner teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for city leaders and government partners. The Center is committed to working with communities that are focused on ending legacies of structural, entrenched racism and oppression. The Associate Product Manager must be willing to think about reimagined government, knowledge, and engagement models through the lens of dismantling these legacies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with development, product, and marketing teams to estimate effort, define scope, and determine roles, responsibilities, and timelines for new projects.
Create and manage product-specific roadmaps and delivery plans that support strategic goals.
Research and develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to test and communicate product direction.
Participate in analyzing, purchasing, customizing, and integrating third-party systems with existing and new applications and software.
Maintain content quality, brand alignment, product accessibility, user experience, and data security for digital products.
Develop product artifacts such as positioning, messaging, presentations, marketing collateral, and demonstrations for use in launch and training.
Use A/B Testing, analytics, market research, usability studies, and competitive analysis to guide decision-making and design.
Coordinate customer support and product uptime support in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Prepare project status, risk management, marketing, and other product lifecycle reports and documentation.
Support overall digital footprint of the Center.
Partner/Client Coordination and Management
Work directly with the Center's clients, partners, and users to create, acquire, design, customize, and deploy digital products that increase adoption, grow knowledge, and achieve measurable results.
Coordinate partner and client engagement in product development.
Train internal departments and partner groups on new product features and best practices.
Develop efficient user communication and feedback channels.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Competency in training users, staff members, and marketing-related audiences on new product features.
Proficiency in compiling project status, risk management, and marketing reports.
Technical skills and experience using a wide range of SaaS products.
Interest in government and the public sector.
Familiarity with of principles of design, design software, and web design and development.
Familiarity with UX/UI design and principles of digital accessibility.
Familiarity using data analytics and data visualization tools and software.
Ability to customize and configure low-code and no-code software.
Basic level of experience using design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
Working knowledge of project and task management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, Trello.)
Working knowledge of leading web content management and marketing tools (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, HubSpot.)
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Four years of relevant experience, including project management or in combination with business development experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional experience may substitute for education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Experience maintaining customer/client relationships and providing product support.
Experience analyzing and converting industry trends and competitor behavior into tactical recommendations and plans.
Experience gathering, interpreting, and presenting qualitative and quantitative product data and consumer feedback.
Experience supporting complex product launch and marketing efforts.
Experience presenting presentations and facilitating meetings.
Experience performing a range of standard and technical assessments.
Experience with marketing and technical writing.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
