This senior-level technician position in facilities at Rec Well is created to be the right-hand person to the building supervisor. Besides elevated levels and expectations of repair and facility maintenance, this position will also help oversee the day-to-day operations of the team. Once fully trained, the expectation is that this position assists in the on-boarding and training process within the facilities team at Rec Well.
Computer skills and knowledge is vital to this role. Candidates will utilize technology to document, close work orders, and work within internal systems. Qualified applicants need to be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and purchase repair parts/supplies to complete repairs.
This position's primary responsibility is support of the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of all indoor and outdoor recreational sports facilities and equipment. Typical work hours are 7am-3pm, Monday-Friday. Work hours are subject to change to meet the needs of Rec Well. This position may be required to work at all Rec Well facilities as needed. This employee must be able to spend substantial time on their feet and is also able to perform lifting regularly up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs.
Inspects, maintains, and repairs specialized equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, design and operational maintenance as needed.
50% Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
25% Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
15% Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
5% Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entities
5% Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
Develop strong working relationships with campus partners such as Physical Plant, Risk Management, and EHS.
Attend Divisional Staff meetings and trainings.
Attend state, regional, and national conferences as approved to keep abreast of current trends and issues. Participate in trade shows and other professional development opportunities presented by the department.
Pursue and maintain all necessary certifications related to job responsibilities (American Red Cross Adult CPR/FA/AED).
Serve on department, division, or university committees as requested.
On an occasional basis, exercise flexibility to work evening or weekend hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
