Employer will assist with relocation costs.
Use Journeyman-Level knowledge of electrical line work to safety construct and maintain electric distribution lines. Climb poles to perform required tasks including changing out of arms, transformers, conductors, etc.
Maintain oil circuit breakers, transformers, poles, and all such devices that ensure reliable electric service.
Make sure repairs are done in a safe and efficient manner.
Problem solve within the parameters dictated by RUS, OSHA, DOT, and all other regulatory and compliance requirements.
Utilize general and specific knowledge Journeyman Lineman.
Operate specific equipment such as bucket truck, digger, trencher, forklift, and any equipment necessary to set poles, lay wire, connect and disconnect services, and tree trimming.
Maintain expertise and working knowledge of RUS specifications to ensure all construction and maintenance is performed according to those specifications at all times.
Maintain progressive working knowledge of all relevant technology, equipment and systems.
Inspect and troubleshoot existing lines for issues. Retire old power lines and poles as required.
Troubleshoot and respond to outages in a timely manner.
Direct, guide and train personnel in apprenticeship programs.
Responsible for proper care and operations of any and all equipment assigned. Responsible for proper storage of poles, transformers, and safe transport.
Promote electric use by taking every opportunity to acquaint the consumers with the productive uses of electricity; obtaining increased ember and public understanding of the Cooperative’s objectives, plans and programs, and of rural electrification in general.
Provide high level of customer service to members with direct communication. Acquaint consumers with productive uses of electricity, knowledge of plans and programs, and an understanding of the Cooperative’s objectives.
Conduct activities in such a manner as to promote a safe working environment, efficient operation of the Cooperative, productive employees, and satisfied customers.
Any other duties as requested.
Other duties may be assigned in the Emergency Restoration Plan.
Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Approved DOL registered 4 year apprentice lineman program is required. Minimum of five (5) years in electric utility distribution operations, including distribution system construction and maintenance.
Knowledge of RUS uniform system of accounts and specifications, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, OSHA rules and regulations, and Cooperative policies and procedures.
High-level customer service skills
MS Office advanced knowledge, CAD, and databases
Possess advanced mathematical abilities
General office skills
Operate office equipment with little or no assistance including copier, fax, scanner, and any telephone or electronic equipment required for daily operations
Position Requirements:
Possess and maintain a Texas Class A CDL within 6 months of hire (if you are not currently in a position requiring a Texas Class A CDL).
Remain as an insurable driver in order to operate any and all of the Cooperative vehicles.
Maintain a working contact phone number.
Must reside no more than 30 miles from your work site or area of response.
Perform all duties necessary on-site or at specified working locations as defined by the General Manager or Operations Manager. At no time, are you allowed to perform any duties from a remote location that is not authorized by the General Manager.

Physical Activity & Working Conditions:
Good dexterity to operate various pieces of operational equipment, test equipment, hot-line tools, and computer equipment.
Ensure proper PPE is used in field operations including pole climbing gear, steel toe/EH boots, and other provided equipment.
Work environment includes in and out of the office, substation areas, and distribution line areas. You may be exposed to extreme weather conditions such as heat, rain, show, dust, and storms or hurricanes.
Travel within the system will be regular. Travel for education or conferences will be necessary up to 10% of the time.
