The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the teaching laboratory facilities on the 6th floors of Rogers Hall, primarily serving the Civil and Urban Engineering, Chemical and & Biomolecular Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering departments. The position reports to the Associate Director of Laboratory Operations. Activities include working directly with teaching faculty to facilitate teaching of laboratory courses; laboratory safety training and policy; FDNY C14 certification training; maintaining equipment and instrument; maintaining service records; supervising equipment operations; creating and disseminating standard operating procedures and policies; regularly interacting with Tandon Laboratory Safety Officer and NYU Environmental Health and Safety/ Research Lab Safety and Facilities Management.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering field (ie chemical engineering, bio-molecular engineering, physics etc.)
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in a related field
Required Experience: 3+ years Experience working in a laboratory environment
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: High level of independent thinking, creativity and goal oriented productivity. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Ability to identify and support implementation of best practices. Project management, teaching and/or mentoring experience. MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
