Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III for the Division of Environmental and Population Health Biosciences within the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute and School of Public Health. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist III will be part of an interdisciplinary team and work on a number of research projects on the interactions of advanced materials with biological and environmental systems. The Center is under the leadership of Professor Philip Demokritou and its current research activities focus on fundamental research on the fate and bioactivity of advanced materials in the gastrointestinal tract and lung; development of advanced cellular models to assess bio-interactions of nano/advanced materials; synthesis of metallic nanoparticles using flame spray pyrolysis; development of advanced materials from non-toxic biodegradable biopolymers for biomedical and ag-food applications using scalable techniques such as electrospray/electrospinning; development of antimicrobial platforms for food safety and airborne diseases.
Among the key duties of this position are the following;
Contributes towards interdisciplinary research efforts in the NAMC Center by participating in research projects related to Advanced materials and emerging contaminants.
Participates in collaborative grant preparation with other investigators at Rutgers and other collaborative academic Institutions.
Presents results at internal meetings at EOHSI and at national or international scientific meetings.
Works in a team environment which includes undergrad and graduate level students and post-doctoral fellows.
Trains students in the lab.
Performs research resulting in first-author, peer-reviewed publications.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's degree in biology, toxicology, environmental health, or a closely related discipline plus (1) year of experience.
Or, a Bachelor's degree plus two years of of experience.
