The Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health is seeking a Research Assistant who will be responsible for supporting a global scan on reproductive coercion.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct a scoping review of coercive reproductive practices experienced by women living with HIV in healthcare settings, including contraception, breastfeeding, and birth method, and explore issues of obstetric violence and forced and coerced sterilization.
Facilitate communication with key stakeholders involved in the research.
Work with faculty and staff from the Center for Public Health and Human Rights, Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in partnership with the International Community of Women living with HIV (ICW) as well as the Global Network of People living with HIV (GNP+).
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comfortable working with a diverse team on projects related to human rights, stigmatized populations, and sexual minorities.
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Interest in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care among at-risk populations preferred.
Some related experience preferred.
Master's degree in the public health field a plus.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
