IU POLICE DEPARTMENT (UA-PD-IUBLA)

Indiana University Public Safety pursues IU's commitment to providing the greatest degree of safety for all members of the IU community, consistent with the university's mission and environment, applicable legal and professional standards, and available resources. IU Public Safety directly oversees the IU Police Department , University Environmental Health and Safety , and Emergency Management and Continuity with a team of approximately 300 dedicated staff on a 24/7/365 operational basis across all campuses.

• Completes all university and required training to independently perform the duties and responsibilities of Public Safety Dispatcher - Intermediate.
• Assists experienced public safety dispatchers and other public safety staff as needed to train/gain experience.

This position is posted at a Foundational Career Level but may be filled at another level depending on the candidate's qualifications. Although they will be similar, the duties and responsibilities may differ. Please see the qualifications listed below for each level.

Public Safety Dispatcher (Foundational)

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or GED

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

• 1 year communications, switchboard, dispatching or related experience

• Public safety telecommunications certificate

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana

Tier I (Foundational) will have an annualized salary of $40,560.

Tier II (Intermediate level) will have an annualized salary of $44,720.

Tier III (Mastery level) will have an annualized salary of $46,800.
