Reporting to the Senior Director, Risk & Insurance, the Claims Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day administration of claims management activities. The Claims Analyst will be the primary support staff for adjudication of select University insurance programs (e.g., property and/or auto insurance programs), including bill review, invoice processing, and record management, collaborating closely with Facilities Management and Environmental Health & Safety. The role will also be responsible for overseeing the administration of additional services offered by Risk Management to members of the University community, including but not limited to the safe driver program.
Specific Responsibilities:
Claims Management
Processes a high volume of incident reports to determine compensability of the report in collaboration with the Sr. Risk Analyst to determine appropriate line of coverage.
Drafts notice and/or tender documents for submission to commercial insurance carriers, and regularly communicates with claims examiners to ensure the University’s position.
Processes claim invoices, including appropriate bill review with vendor partners and/or campus partners (e.g., Facilities Management), and ensures accurate repository of documentation in RMIS software.
Prepares reports on status of claims as requested.
Responds to requests for information from third party vendors and insurers to ensure consistency of documentation for claims.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with campus partners, vendors, insurers, and outside panel counsel.
Insurance Program Support
Provides administrative support to the Senior Director, Risk & Insurance for applicable programs as assigned.
Assists the department in coordination of claim, exposure, and invoice information in the RMIS software system.
Responsible for select insurances (e.g., property and/or automobile insurances) and working with insurance companies and other vendors on contractual requirements.
Operational Risk Management
Participate in discussions regarding risk, safety, and educational programs for University students, faculty and staff
Partners closely with Environmental Health and Safety and Facilities Management to identify and support loss prevention initiatives for university properties.
Systems Support
Identifies and improves workflow of processes within RMIS system.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 2+ year at an insurance carrier, third-party administrator, or other internal risk management function.

Preferred Qualifications:
College degree or at least 3+ years experience in risk management, insurance, or University-setting.

Proficent in RMIS system, excel, and financial management platforms
Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation bill review process
