The Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) is seeking aSr Program Officer II(SPOII) for its newly established Johns Hopkins Lyme and Tickborne Diseases Research and Education Institute (LTBDI). The impact of tick-borne diseases (TBD) on public health has been largely ignored, until recently. In addition to Lyme disease, other emerging TBD appear on the rise, including infections with Rickettsia, previously undetected species of Borrelia (B. miyamotoi). While reasons are likely manifold, climate change and a resulting increase in the geographical spread of ticks may contribute to these changes, as are human habitation in forested areas previously left untouched. The LTBDI is ideally positioned to rapidly support ramp-up of vital research into the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of TBD. The SPOII will provide administrative leadership and technical assistance in the development of the LTBDI infrastructure, design, development and evaluation of the programs and initiatives of the Institute.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Work with the Institute Director to develop strategic plans for the development and growth of the Institute.
Serve as the administrative lead and a representative for the Institute.
Identify opportunities for the Institute visibility and role of advocacy in public health.
Oversee the development of communications and website/dashboard for the Institute.
Aid in the development and administrative oversight of a pilot research program.
Develop workplans for staff to assist in the support of Institute members.
Develop assessment strategies for Institute reviews and progress reports.
Develop relationships with external affairs and donors to express the needs of the Institute.
Explore opportunities for program expansion.
Plan and execute an annual TBD Research Symposium for the Institute.
Liaise with the MMI Administrator for the development of budget and projections.
Other duties as assigned.

Familiar with Microsoft Office.
Excellent Communication Skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree.
Six years of high-level relevant expertise.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of SAP.
Experience working in an academic setting.
Experience with community outreach.
