The Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University (the Center) seeks a Program Officer, Sustainable Cities to lead a new, multi-year, multi-city domestic grant-funded program. The first of its kind in the world, the Center aims to advance the field of public sector innovation by marrying cutting-edge practice with world class research in order to transform the culture of government, deliver exceptional results for residents, and inspire trust in public service.
The Program Officer leads the design and delivery of a new world-class program to build the capacity of public servants to create better economic, environmental, and racial-justice solutions for local communities. The Program Officer reports directly to the Centers Innovation Practice Director and works with client and partner teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for city leaders and government partners. The Program Officer will also interact on a regular basis with the Centers Executive Director who is also deeply involved in the development of this high profile and mission-critical program.
The Center is committed to working with communities that are focused on ending legacies of structural, entrenched racism and oppression. The Program Officer must be willing to think about reimagined government, knowledge, and engagement models through the lens of dismantling these legacies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Work directly with Center leadership to design and deliver a multimillion-dollar, national program.
Lead design and delivery of a new, multi-year innovation program in coordination with staff, partner organizations, and philanthropic funders.
Lead partner and client engagement in program design and delivery.
Lead production of program artifacts such as briefings, messaging, and presentations.
Manage a world-class team of 8 professionals to design and deliver innovation programming.
Prepare and present project status reports, risk management, and other program lifecycle reports and documentation to Centers leadership, program partners, and funder.
Coordinate development and submission of donor deliverables.
Onboard and provide regular training to program staff in best practices and delivery methods.
Conceptualize, prepare, and monitor technical assistance programs to provide client support and to promote research and dissemination.
Promote synergies with teams across the Center to propose and develop sustainable and innovative solutions.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in a related field.
Three years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for experience and additional experience may substitute for education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years' experience in the field of government innovation.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
