The division of pediatric infectious diseases is seeking a full-time Sr. Research Program Coordinator to provide logistical and scientific support for the multicenter Bright STAR Collaborative. Johns Hopkins University faculty are leading a national collaborative of pediatric intensive care units to implement diagnostic stewardship, an innovative strategy to reduce overuse of laboratory testing and antibiotic use. This position will support a study using quantitative and qualitative methods to assess the impact of the Bright STAR collaborative. The primary responsibilities will be to manage the qualitative research aims, including enrolling and scheduling participants for semi-structured interviews, conducting interviews, collecting data, managing data storage, and contributing to data coding and analysis, and presentation. The successful candidate will be comfortable interacting with healthcare professionals such as nurses, advanced practice providers and physicians.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
General knowledge of principles, concepts, and theory behind research; applies general analytical skills to oversee the logistical implementation of assigned projects, and to identify situations requiring special attention. Utilizing this knowledge, the Sr. Research Program Coordinator will ensure adherence to research protocols, operating procedures, and all associated internal/external regulations.
Assist in study design.
Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures.
Recommend changes to operational procedures based on results and goals of a study.
Schedule and conduct semi-structured interviews with participants. Participants will include healthcare workers who care for children (nurses, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, physicians) as well as administrative staff (infection preventionists, quality and safety administrators)
Coordinate, manage, and store study transcripts and audio recordings.
Assist in the development of a codebook.
Maintain moderately complex tracking database/spreadsheet utilizing Excel, Access, or similar software applications.
Code transcribed interview data using qualitative software.
Analyze and summarize qualitative data utilizing statistical software packages.
Utilizing working knowledge of study(s) will participate in meetings to provide operational updates, report on any operational issues, and make recommendations for resolutions to new/outstanding operational issues.
Routinely review and communicate the status of data collection, coding and analysis to support timely completion.
Operational support will include preparation of internal/external regulatory requirements (e.g., IRB materials, grant progress reporting) and clerical duties (e.g., facilitation of participant incentives, schedule meetings with study team)
Manage project timelines and support strategies to meet deadlines.
Assist with manuscript and presentation preparation.
Participate or support additional projects related to implementation of quality improvement projects, which may include working with other related investigators in the School of Medicine.
Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Three years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in related field.
