This Research Technician will assist scientists in performing scientific research, development and/or clinical tasks of varying complexity. In general, this position will assist in the set-up, operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, monitoring experiments, making observations and calculating and recording results.

The Shapiro Lab of the Department of Medical Oncology is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to assist in several projects related to cyclin-dependent kinase and PARP inhibition in breast, ovarian and pancreatic cancer models.?? These projects will contribute heavily to cell cycle and DNA repair inhibitor cancer drug development.?? Responsibilities will also include ordering of supplies and general lab maintenance. Additionally:
Prepare, conduct and analyze research tests and laboratory analysis, including the collection of information and samples from substances such as blood, animals, tissue, and drugs in areas such as biology, microbiology, chemistry or biochemistry.
Isolate, identify and prepare specimens for examination.
Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings, including grant preparation, manuscript preparations and presentations.
Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities and may be required to perform data entry.
Monitors laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information as well as the standard operation procedures specific to each laboratory.
Participate in all laboratory maintenance duties and inventory as required, and may be responsible for ordering of supplies.
Will be expected to provide intellectual and interactive commitment to position by keeping up with appropriate literature and research publications.
Other duties as assigned.

BA or BS required with strong undergraduate record in biological or physical sciences. Minimum of two years of availability is strongly preferred. ??
Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
Experience with in-vivo models and molecular biology techniques is desired, but not required.
Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.
Ability to work within a team environment.
