Position Summary:
Responsible for developing, managing, maintaining and (as needed) implementing the Illness and Injury Prevention Program. Reporting to the Staff Safety Programs manager, this position supervises EHS Specialist 3 and also serves as a working supervisor Programs overseen are Cal/OSHA required programs, including, but not limited to: office safety and ergonomics, safe patient handling, fall prevention, confined space safety, driver safety, hearing protection, heat illness prevention, blood borne pathogen protection and the COVID prevention plan, under the umbrella of the site IIPP. Employee will assess injury root cause in collaboration with employee health case managers and consultants/physicians and operational leaders; track and provide a variety of reports demonstrating program effectiveness, prevention value, as well as applicable risk reduction; work with material management to facilitate the timely purchase and distribution of appropriate and recommended equipment; and, collaborate with the design and construction management team to modify current existing work spaces and the plan of new work spaces.

Annual Rate Minimum $87,200.00 Midpoint $125,400.00 Maximum $163,600.00
Required Qualifications:
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the organization.
Knowledge of and experience using computer software (databases, spreadsheets, powerpoint, and word processing) programs
Experience in implementing relevant programs, policies and procedures, training/ information, reporting and record keeping programs.
Knowledge of principles of occupational health, safety and environmental protection.
Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules including nights and weekends
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Current State of California Driver's License
Bachelor's Degree or higher in related scientific field
Four years of professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
On-site 40-60% of work-time
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of federal and California state regulatory requirements and national standards regarding occupational health and safety.
Experience in a hospital environment
