Position Summary:
Reporting to the EH&S Specialist 5, the incumbent independently develops, implements and manages multiple programs in the field of radiation safety to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and ensures a safe workplace. Responsible for development and implementation of specific operational radiation safety programs at the Medical Center and off-site locations. Experienced professional who independently performs a wide range of functions supporting radiation safety; analyzes problems and determines solutions. Decision-making is based on established procedures; relevant laws; regulations and organizational policy; professional best practices; relevant science methodology; impact on other EH&S programs; senior management approval as required. Decisions may impact individual work, other EH&S programs, other departments or programs in the organization.

Annual Rate Minimum $71,300.00 Midpoint $100,000.00 Maximum $128,700.00
Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization
Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules including nights and weekends
Position is subject to the California DMV's 'Pull Notice System' and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
Strong analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints.
Bachelor's degree in physics, math, chemistry, engineering, or biology, or a closely related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of 2-years' experience in a large hospital or academic medical center, specifically in radiation safety/health physics.
Valid State of California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
Must be trained in OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) with current certificate or able to obtain recertification
Good presentation skills.
Thorough knowledge, understanding of, and skill in applying radiation safety and environmental regulations (CDPH/RHB, NRC)
Thorough knowledge of health care related regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, CDPH, CMS, HICS, CUPA)
