The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Johns Hopkins University is looking for a Sr. Research Data Analyst to support the scientific implementation of long-term AHRQ-funded or other investigator-initiated, research protocols examining the transmission and progression of hospital-associated infectious diseases, diagnostic and antibiotic stewardship, and infection prevention. Under moderate supervision this job supports research studies and clinical trials through data collection, management, analysis and interpretation. The Sr. Research Data Analyst will report directly to the Research Program Manager and Principal Investigators and work closely with other study staff to complete data management and analysis.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Develop overarching data storage and access structure for existing and future databases in accordance with internal research needs as well as NIH requirements for public use datasets.
Apply highest ethical and university standards for safeguarding personal identification information of study participants and any other identifiable data.
Plan, execute, and track data management tasks in accordance with project timelines.
Oversee data cleaning, including identifying potential problems with study data and collaborate with Principal Investigators and Program Manager on problem resolution.
Lead the creation of cleaned data sets, including addition of variable labels and value descriptions, creation of summary variables, merging, creating, and recoding variables to prepare data for analyses, and compiling data from various sources into analytic data sets.
Create tables and figures in publication-quality form summarizing the results of statistical analyses as requested by investigators.
Contribute to preparation of progress reports for funding agencies.
Write detailed documentation/specifications for analysis data sets and related files.
Facilitate and standardize teams' approach to labeling and storing data files for sharing.
Attend staff meetings and provide updates on status of projects.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Experience with REDCap programming or equivalent.
Proficiency with a statistical package (R and STATA preferred).
Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) proficiency.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and with short deadlines.
Ability to exercise independent judgment.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
Ability and willingness to perform organizational and administrative duties.
Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related discipline.
One-year related experience. Require highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in a specialized field of study to conduct research.
Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Typically require PhD.
One year of related experience in statistical analysis/data management, strongly desired.
One year of related experience in REDCap (or similar databases) programming, strongly desired.
