TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I/LAB MANAGER, McGovern Institute for Brain Research - Jazlab is interested in the neural basis of cognition and sensorimotor behavior. The lab uses cutting-edge brain recording/perturbation tools to study neural activity as animals perform complex tasks. The lab also models these data using advanced computational methods and conducts behavioral experiments using human subjects. With these wide-ranging approaches, Jazlab's work spans the fields of systems, computational, and cognitive neuroscience.
Jazlab is hiring a lab manager/senior research support associate. Managerial experience in a research setting is beneficial, but not necessary as on-the-job training will be provided. The candidate can also learn computational/experimental techniques in the lab and contribute to scientific projects. An array of professional development opportunities suited to the interests of the candidate will also be offered. Specific tasks will include managing finances, on-boarding new personnel, liaising with various departments on-campus, arranging guest visits, purchasing, scheduling, organizing events, processing reimbursements, proofing grants/manuscripts, handling mail, maintaining equipment and chemical/biological materials, enforcing environmental health and safety, conducting MRIs, sterilizing supplies, behavior training of animals, pre and post-operative care of animals, developing standardized protocols, and monitoring anesthesia during surgeries.

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree, two years of relevant research experience, and willingness to work with research animals. Job #22544
