IT@JH Technology Innovation Center (TIC) is seeking an Atlassian Engineer who will maintain, configure and administer the Johns Hopkins Enterprise Atlassian Jira Data Center, Jira Service Management, and Confluence Data Center instances. The institution is currently amidst a significant migration and merger of three (3) high-visibility and mission-critical instances that support our Health IT, Student Information Systems, and Enterprise IT communities at-large. The combined instance will support upwards of 15,000 users, dozens of departments, and hundreds of project teams.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities will range from tier-1 customer support, tools maintenance, and front-end customization to business analysis, solutions architecture, and comprehensive application and system administration.
Develops custom Jira workflows, fields, and screens as per project requirements.
Manages user permissions and groups for Jira and Confluence, manage Atlassian plugins and add-ons for Jira and Confluence, and perform backups and restores of Jira and Confluence data.
Plays a key communications and customer relationship role with institutional leaders and project owners. The TIC currently maintains a portfolio of dozens of customers in various capacities. We also support several heavily customized integrations, features, and business intelligence dashboarding functions that are critical to operations.
The Atlassian Engineer will also have a leading voice in establishing and overseeing Governance for supporting the environment with our primary constituents.
Specific Devices, Software, Projects
The current landscape includes three (3) major and separate instance deployments, each with their own respective Development and Production environments. These will be merged into a large, centrally managed deployment with shared ownership and administrative responsibilities.
The TIC DevOps team will provide a secure multi-environment hosting platform in the Azure Cloud, as managed through Azure DevOps and leveraging Pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Full administration of the Enterprise Johns Hopkins Atlassian suite (i.e., Jira Data Center, Jira Service Management, Confluence Data Center).
Planning and coordinating feature improvements and upgrades around services.
Create and update custom Jira workflows, post functions, conditions, and validators.
Analyze, research, manage, and implement integrated Atlassian tools, plugins, and applications.
Work directly with customers to provide high quality, modern technical solutions to our clients.
Serve as the first point of contact for customers that utilize Atlassian products and will be responsible for providing excellent customer service through professional written and verbal communication with customers in various roles.
Provide training to technical and non-technical teams to use Atlassian tools.
Document standard operating and technical procedures.
Ensure the Atlassian tools' security and compliance with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrate the ability to stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the Atlassian ecosystem and evaluate new features and tools that can benefit the organization.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Five years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Atlassian certification in Jira and Confluence administration.
Experience with Agile methodologies and software development life cycle.
Understanding of databases, SQL queries, and REST APIs.
