INFRASTRUCTURE ASSISTANT, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to provide assistance and technical support for facilities and environmental health and safety (EHS) functions, with minimal supervision from the facilities administrator along with technical instruction from the EHS coordinator. Responsibilities include tasks related to maintaining building appearance, monitoring loading dock, coordination with external vendors and receiving external deliveries, office and furniture moving, and providing hands-on support for the general upkeep of conference rooms and other public areas; coordinating minor department-managed construction jobs (i.e., changing paint or carpeting) including calling contractors, obtaining quotes, and coordinating work, including campus access, and reviewing work to ensure proper completion; assisting the facilities administrator with office, lab, and building renovations and installations as needed; project documentation duties, including text, photography, and video; assisting with specific site and lab inspections, testing equipment and processes, and evaluating and documenting findings, including level 2 lab inspections; and coordinating with MIT EHS and vendors for the collection of waste materials.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years of facilities or EHS experience; strong organizational, time-management, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work effectively with others, operating as part of a team and independently; and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
