Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner- Addiction Medicine

Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patients' medical, physical and psychological status, including histories and physical examinations. Develops treatment plans individualized to the patient's needs. Records notes in the medical record. Implements physician directed treatment plans, writes orders for medications, treatments, tests, and provides patient care. Under the direction of a physician, is able to perform minor procedures for which they can exhibit competencies. Provides education and training to clinical staff in the offices. Provides urgent care, occupational health assessments and performs routine office visits. Coordinates treatment plans with physicians. Obtains consultations when the diagnosis or management is outside area of expertise. The clinic is an ambulatory clinic. Specific focus of the clinic is to treat substance use disorders primarily but not limited to opiate use disorder. Medical management of other substance use disorders especially alcohol and coordination of care to community partners, counselors, etc. May be opportunities to teach both staff and community shareholders

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• If a Physician Assistant: Bachelors Degree required. Successful completion of a CAAHEP approved program.

• If an Nurse Practitioner: Masters or Doctorate Degree in Nursing. Graduate of an approved NLN or equivalent nursing program.

Experience:

• Prefer minimum of 3 years work experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

• Experience in substance use disorder ambulatory clinic, x-waiver, familiarity with Buprenorphine therapy is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

• If a Physician Assistant: Must have/maintain current SC PA licensure.

• If a Nurse Practitioner: Current unrestricted SC Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Prescriptive Authority.
