Job Description Summary Oversee, implement and continuously improve the Life Safety programs on campus. Coordinate the inspection, testing and maintenance requirements of our Life Safety systems which include working with both contractors and in-house personnel. Provide educational training sessions and materials to staff, faculty and residents, along with technical training on Life Safety systems to University Police and Facilities Management staff.
Essential Duties
Coordinate, conduct, and document inspections and repairs for all life safety-related systems and equipment.
Implement compliance programs throughout the campus community.
Develop and provide fire safety training programs. Schedule fire drill activities in coordination with University Police and Residence Life staff.
Schedule and coordinate semi-annual resident hall health and safety inspections, taking necessary corrective actions and follow-up.
Plan fire prevention week activities.
Supervise and manage outside contractors on campus daily for operations and capital projects as directed.
Continuously improve and implement preventive maintenance and inspections reports through Infor.
Work with Project Management team to update life safety device locations and evacuation plans.
Contribute to monthly and annual Life Safety written reports.
Maintain historical report/inspection database by documenting the information in the CMMS.
Responsible for the tagging, cataloging and documenting all Life Safety assets and systems.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management that pertain to the operational responsibilities of Life Safety services.
Responsible for all Life Safety programs as it relates to local, state and federal regulations.
Responsible for access control security system upgrades and maintenance.
Other Duties
Manages contractors related to all Life Safety systems.
Ensure work is performed accordingly.
Oversee inspection/testing procedures.
Other work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED plus 5 years' experience in the Life Safety field OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 2 years' experience.
Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley's insurance carrier.
Must possess knowledge of the Massachusetts Building Code, National Electrical Code, NFPA Standards and Codes, Life Safety Code, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler and Standpipe and Commercial Codes, and Kitchen Hood Codes.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Work Environment
There are times when the individual will be subjected to construction site conditions such as extreme cold or hot weather.
This individual will work with EHS Specialist to identify hazardous materials in the field.
This position requires frequent travel throughout campus.
Physical Demands
Ability to squat, kneel and maintain bent postures from 5 minutes up to 10 minutes for a continuous duration, on an occasional basis.
Ability to walk on level, uneven and inclined surfaces on a sustained basis and climb steps up to 24 steps and ladders up to 18-ft on an occasional basis.
Ability to carry up to 25-pounds up to 100 yards on an occasional basis.
