Required Skill/ability 3: Awareness of the techniques used in microbiological and molecular biological labs, and knowledge of the associated biocontainment practices and procedures performed in BSL-1/ABSL-1, BSL-2/ABSL-2, and BSL-3/ABSL-3 laboratories.
Required Skill/ability 4: Knowledge of biosafety risk assessment and risk management elements for reviewing research protocols involving biohazards and for monitoring protocols once initiated through inspection and audit. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, including EHS Integrator. Ability to report survey findings and maintain required regulatory records.
Required Skill/ability 5: Knowledge of biohazard regulations, encompassing their interpretation and application in a university setting, including but not limited to the NIH Guidelines, the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, the CDC/NIH BMBL, State of Connecticut Department of Public Health regulations.
Preferred Education: A biological safety professional certification, such as the Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP), or Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) is preferred.
Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: A biological safety professional certification, such as the Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP), or Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Radiation Safety/Health Physics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field and four years of work experience in a safety-related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
