Position Summary:
Coordinate environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and functions for the campus and facilities for all employees, students, and visitors. Provide OSHA compliance safety and equipment use training for select employee groups, and teach CPR, First Aid, and AEDs. This is an essential personnel position (Level 2) and reports directly to the Director of Public Safety. Demonstrates the ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. As an essential personnel position for the College, the position is expected to remain at work or report to work as directed by their supervisor as a member of the Campus Safety and Crisis Management Team (CSCMT) and as the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for the campus.
2. Coordinate and conduct safety-related training and programs for employees and students.
3. Perform routine and scheduled duties as required to provide campus compliance with OSHA, MOSH, County/State Fire Marshalls Office, and any other regulatory agency having jurisdiction over the College. Work in collaboration with Plant Operations to correct deficiencies and make recommendations for action as needed to maintain code compliance.
4. Maintain First Aid and CPR Trainer certifications and assist with first aid service requests to the College campus as needed during assigned working hours until area emergency services personnel and equipment are on scene.
5. Maintain all records for campus life safety equipment inspections and employee safety training, and provide scheduled reports to the Public Safety Director, including training completion and equipment inspection deficiencies.
6. Perform or coordinate inspections of all lab safety and fume hood equipment and maintain all records of inspections on the department shared drive.
7. Maintain campus records as appropriate for all campus locations of hazardous materials, including testing for asbestos, lead paint, etc.
8. Coordinate the removal and disposal of lab animal remains, medical equipment waste, and other hazardous materials.
9. Maintain the inventory of all NARCAN, safety/medical first aid kits and equipment, evacuation equipment, and medical supplies, and requisition the replenishment of all supplies/equipment as needed.
10. Serve as EHS representative on various campus committees as directed or assigned.
11. Provide weekly and/or scheduled reports and data analysis as directed.
12. Ability to climb and descend stairs, walk between buildings, perform CPR, AED, First Aid training, and first responder duties per certifications.
13. Possess a valid driver's license for operating College campus vehicles.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: $36,797 - $40,477 annually
