Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week. The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.
The Office of Annual Giving is a growing team that currently consists of fifteen colleagues who provide annual giving services to the nine schools of the university, various departments of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and several centers and institutes, totaling over 25 partners. These annual giving services include developing comprehensive and integrated direct response solicitation strategies that are optimal for each unit.
The Junior Graphic Designer supports the design and production needs of the Office of Annual Giving and the Division of Development & Alumni Relations, and serves as a key partner in the creation of annual giving solicitation and stewardship content. The Junior Graphic Designer will design artwork and content for multi-channel, multi-unit solicitation and stewardship campaigns. The position will contribute to the strategy and design of over 100 unique solicitations for various schools and units of Johns Hopkins annually, with a special emphasis on creating materials for the undergraduate alumni audience.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and update graphics for OAG's direct response services, which include visual assets for direct mail, mass email, videos, social media, print and digital ads, websites, external and internal toolkits, infographics, crowdfunding campaigns, and other marketing assets as needed
Ensures that OAG's visual assets are within the brand guidelines and brand vision of both the University as well as the individual schools and divisions
Work closely with print vendors to execute direct mail solicitations
Maintain regular communication with OAG team members and DAR partners to fulfill ongoing design needs
Ability to learn new tools and do self-guided work within a fast-paced environment
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in fine arts, graphic design, or related field.
Two years experience and a portfolio.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related artistic discipline.
Strong visual design portfolio that reflects current design trends and showcases a broad range of clients/challenges/solutions.
Solid proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Meticulous attention to detail.
Comprehensive knowledge of graphic design principles and production methods.
Strong typography, layout, and composition skills.
Strong communication skills.
Advanced skills in HTML and email design.
Ability to create short, branded videos.
Experience in producing creative assets for higher education institutions or a closely related industry.
Ability to establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve goals.
Ability to thrive in high-energy environments that often have short deadlines and shifting priorities.
Ability to incorporate feedback into designs.
Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
