We are currently in search of a Research Administration Trainer who will fulfill the following responsibilities,
Reporting to the Sr. Administrative Manager, JHURA seeks a Research Administration Trainer who will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering virtual and in-person training to adult learners for all phases of research administration. This is a hybrid position that will require occasional, in-person activities on JHU's Baltimore campus. The Trainer will also assist with developing and implementing strategic research administration training and education initiatives, including conducting assessments, collating feedback from training participants and colleagues, and integrating feedback into new and redesigned training materials and job aids. The Trainer will also identify, coordinate, and collaborate with co-facilitators and other training partners for all JHURA designated divisions.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for JHURA customer inquiries regarding research administration training needs and JHURA systems training.
Facilitate adult learning and engagement by developing and delivering participatory learning activities through in-person and virtual platforms.
Build effective research administrators through skill building, feedback, and coaching.
Coordinate training delivery with co-facilitators and other training partners who support training needs.
Develop and implement a training quality improvement strategy.
Develop surveys, compile notes with feedback on training delivery after each activity and participate in lessons learned meetings with the Sr Administrative Manager and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
In collaboration with JHURA leadership, identify knowledge gaps and design, develop, and facilitate educational solutions, which may include Integrating changes in protocols, practices, and workflow into new or supplementary presentations, training materials, and job aids.
Assess trainee competencies using skills assessments, self-assessments, or other innovative approaches.
Leverage and administer learning management systems and appropriate delivery technologies to address specific learning needs.
Work directly with the Research Administration Training Program (RATP) Executive Committee to support the development and implementation of expanded training.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and three years of experience required. Master's degree and at least five years of experience preferred.
Experience in Research Administration required.
Excellent listening, public speaking, and team-building skills.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft suite of tools.
Highly organized with an attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to new assignments and flexibly respond to changing requirements.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at Johns Hopkins in research administration.
Experience facilitating training in the context of higher education programs.
Understanding of instructional design for learning solutions via all types of modalities that are engaging and build capabilities.
Ability to assess and implement the right solution for an identified need to ensure knowledge transfer and provides exceptional employee learning experiences.
Experience with learning management systems.
Knowledge of key principles of online education and adult learning, including contemporary learning theory and methodologies.
The ability to measure and analyze learning metrics to determine the effectiveness of learning solutions.
