IT@JH Networking, Telecom and Data Center is seeking an IT Sr. Project Administrator who will be the IT liaison and project administrator for new buildings and renovations and any structured cabling needs supporting IT@JH across Johns Hopkins.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborates with IT Leaders, Facilities, Design and Construction teams, vendors and end users.
Ensures IT@JH best practices are implemented in design and implementation.
Reports to the Academic Network Manager and receives projects from IT leaders and peers in other departments.
Specific Devices, Software, Projects
Interacts with many design and administration systems as well as Enterprise Network and Telecommunications systems.
Scale/size of Area, Project and/or System Supported
Enterprise-wide data and telecom network users throughout the Maryland, DC area.
On-call Requirements
No on-call, but responsive if needed during critical path project implementation.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Keep current on all codes, standards and fire-stopping related to Information Communication Technology industry.
Keep current on Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM) methods and standards.
Keep current on trends in Copper and Fiber technology including components, installation and testing.
Developing Requests for proposal (RFP) and evaluation of bids for proper scope, materials and installation methods.
Managing technical resources and vendors before, during, and after projects, to ensure a complete installation that meets customer requirements.
Keep Johns Hopkins Cabling Standards documentation up to date.
Ensure complete documentation is received and properly recorded for all fiber optic installations (OSP and ISP).
Good understanding of Bonding and grounding requirements for ICT installations.
Good understanding of structured cabling pathway requirements, bend radius, fill capacity, size planning.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Reasonable understanding of IEEE standards as applied to low voltage systems.
Proficient knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems.
Proficient knowledge of Telecommunications Media; including twisted pair, coaxial and optical fiber types, components and installation methodologies.
Provide and access construction design and coordination for low voltage systems on large scale new construction and renovation projects.
Demonstrated knowledge consistent with RCDD certification. RCDD certification not necessary but a plus if already certified.
Minimum Qualifications
BS Degree preferably in information systems, business administration, management or project management.
Requires demonstrated 5 years IT Experience with 2 years of Project Administration.
Work experience may be substituted for degree where appropriate. Additional education and/or participation in large scale projects may be substituted for experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Reasonable understanding of Network design methodologies.
Reasonable understanding of Outside Plant (OSP) cabling requirements and methodologies.
Understanding Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and responsibilities.
Working knowledge of power distribution and standards for ICT installations.
Working knowledge of DWDM, Ethernet and telecommunications protocols.
Working knowledge of Standards and security requirements for IT (internet Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) deployments.
Working knowledge of Wireless technology, small cell, and Distributed Antenna systems trends and requirements.
