Baylor University's Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation is seeking a Lab Manager to support the mission of the university through the oversight of laboratory safety and ensuring regulatory compliance with policies and procedures.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
A Bachelor's degree in Exercise or Biological Sciences, three years of relevant work experience and an active Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and five years of experience are preferred. Previous experience with bench research work is required, laboratory leadership experience preferred.
Laboratory Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate all standard lab/office equipment and software including MS Office.
Demonstrated knowledge of work with bench equipment is required, previous experience with cell cultures preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work with human and animal models in a research setting.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse stakeholder population, including community partners, clients and staff.
Strong written and oral communication skills
What You Will Do
Oversee undergraduate and graduate trainees' daily research laboratory activities.
Update software and lab computers in consult with the Information Technology Services department.
Arrange on-site repair service for lab equipment when needed.
Make and maintain general lab chemical and cell culture stocks.
Consolidate lab order lists and place an order with research associate.
Support principal investigators' laboratory work.
Manage all research laboratories' chemical inventory, biohazard protocols, and institutional environmental health and safety certifications.
Oversee purchasing new or replacement equipment and supplies for all laboratories.
Oversee the scheduling of laboratory usage for research, classes, and community events.
Maintain an emergency crash cart.
Assist research faculty with equipment training when needed.
Maintain lab equipment via repair or scheduling external entities.
Work with faculty, graduate, and undergraduates to ensure research can be conducted safely and within the limitations of the laboratory setting.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
