The Program in Public Health (PPH) and the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) at the University of California, Irvine invite applicants for a full-time, tenure/tenure-track Faculty, Public Health / Assoc Director of EDI position. Preference will be given to candidates appointable at the Associate or Full Professor level; candidates at the advanced Assistant Professor level will also be considered. The PPH and CFCCC seek candidates with cancer-related research expertise in diverse fields such as epidemiology, risk exposure, health disparities, prevention and intervention, implementation science and translational research, and health policy. We especially encourage applicants with innovative new perspectives and research interests that embrace interdisciplinary approaches. The candidate will also provide expertise in the form of teaching, workshops and mentoring related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Depending upon the successful candidate's public health-specific expertise, they will be housed in one or more of the PPH departments: Environmental and Occupational Health; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Health, Society, and Behavior; or Population Health and Disease Prevention. Reporting to the Cancer Center Director, the CFCCC Associate Director for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (AD-EDI) will oversee and direct efforts to develop, execute, and monitor progress of the Center's Plan to Enhance Diversity, to ensure that the membership, leadership, and workforce of the Center reflects the population that the NCI Cancer Centers Program serves across the United States, and to further address special opportunities within its catchment area of Orange County. Working closely with Center leadership, the AD-EDI will bring a deep commitment to and experience in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism efforts, devoting a minimum of 40% effort towards advancing a culture of inclusion and diversity. The AD-EDI will partner with the CFCCC AD for Cancer Health Equity & Community Engagement and the AD for Cancer Research Education & Training to guide the development of innovative policies and programs to further EDI across all CFCCC missions and to promote the recruitment, hiring, retention, development and advancement of a diverse, culturally competent learning community and workforce.
