Purpose of Job:
The Regulatory Affairs Coordinator will work out of ODEC’s Glen Allen, VA office. This role supports ODEC’s Regulatory Compliance Program, assists with ODEC’s regulatory filings related to FERC, NERC, PJM and state agency compliance and helps facilitate the work of ODEC’s consultants providing compliance advice and implementing recommendations. The individual provides administrative support to the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Affairs Group and supports compliance efforts by assisting with collection and maintenance of ODEC’s internal compliance data and tracking ODEC’s compliance deadlines.
Essential responsibilities include:
Supporting ODEC’s NERC Compliance Program
Serving as a liaison between ODEC’s outside NERC consultants, internal engineering subject matter experts (SMEs), plant staff and regulatory affairs staff (collectively, “ODEC’s NERC Team”) regarding ODEC’s NERC compliance program.
Scheduling and coordinating regular meetings among ODEC’s NERC Team.
Facilitating communication and teamwork among ODEC’s NERC Team.
Coordinating ODEC’s maintaining documentation, data and other evidence regarding NERC compliance efforts to meet regulatory obligations (“ODEC’s NERC Evidence”).
Coordinating ODEC’s compliance with NERC-related submittals.
Monitoring compliance with existing regulations and upcoming or changing regulations to NERC Standards.
Assisting ODEC’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs in assessing ODEC’s NERC Compliance and the successful participation of each member of ODEC’s NERC Team
Supporting ODEC’s PJM Compliance Program.
Performing administrative duties for the Regulatory Affairs Group.
Supporting ODEC’s Compliance with other regulatory obligations.
Attending weekly Group meetings to review FERC docket filings. Taking notes and summarizing the decisions made at each meeting. Following up with Departmental personnel on assignments made at the meeting.
Supporting the Department’s and outside counsel’s work related to FERC, including assisting with responses to data requests.
Supporting the Department’s and outside counsel’s work related to the Virginia State Corporation Commission and other agencies, including assisting with responses to data requests.
Interfacing with others at ODEC tracking regulatory compliance, such as the Finance Department, IT Group and the Environmental, Health and Safety Group.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience related to regulatory affairs, including regulatory filings, compliance or audit support.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, to both technical and non-technical individuals.
Must be able to work independently and with cross-functional teams to resolve moderately complex issues and maintain compliance.
Superior organization and scheduling skills for bringing together consultants, engineers, plant operators and regulatory affairs staff for data gathering, consolidation and submission.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to cultivate relationships with outside consultants and ODEC staff at all levels.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Electric utilities experience preferred.
Education: Associate’s degree in relevant subject area or equivalent job-related work experience.
Travel details: Occasional travel required as necessary, to include some overnight travel.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Interact effectively and frequently with others through written and verbal communication, in person, phone, live video, email and Teams chat.
Work 8-hour weekdays and as needed in an office environment.
Use a laptop frequently using hand-eye coordination to look at data/information on a computer monitor for long periods of time.
Travel occasionally via automobile and/or commercial airline when required to include some overnight travel.
