The Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine is seeking a full-time Research Program Coordinator to support Principal Investigator(s) and help operationalize multiple projects related to HIV/STI prevention and control within the Division.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate both routine in-clinic HIV testing and targeted testing efforts including managing schedules and promote effective HIV testing procedures.
Oversee the certification and procedural aspects of HIV testing for both volunteers and paid staff.
Train and supervise student volunteering responsibilities for health education, risk reduction, and HIV testing, counseling roles within clinic settings.
Develop evidence-based training modules focused on risk reduction and peer navigation within the realm of STI/HIV prevention among adolescents and young adults for both staff and students as needed.
Collaborate with leadership, faculty, and study teams across different schools within Johns Hopkins University and partnering universities, facilitating multidisciplinary approaches to recruit and identify young MSM for HIV prevention services and trials.
Manage client navigation and tracking processes to ensure effective care.
Handle client referrals, assigning new referrals to navigators and providing sexual health services as needed.
Create and maintain tracking databases/spreadsheets aligned with study requirements using software like Excel, Access, or similar tools, under the supervision of the senior research program coordinator.
Extract and interpret data from patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and quality in alignment with research protocols.
Monitor data quality, running pre-established and ad-hoc queries/reports as needed, and oversee data reporting compliance with grant requirements and quotas under the supervision of the sr. research program coordinator.
Manage efforts to improve the identification and linkage systems targeting at-risk youth and youth living with HIV.
Prepare HIV prevention testing clinic and documentation for annual site visits with the BCHD.
Collaborate closely with partners on joint projects under the EIS umbrella, encompassing research, QI, and community engagement.
Adhere fully to institutional and external clinical research requirements.
Utilize EPIC for patient navigation and documentation, including scheduling visits, creating encounter notes, and entering test results for early prevention services.
Assist in creating recruitment materials, flyers, and advertisements across various platforms to enroll and engage patients.
Define necessary information and plans to achieve study goals, in coordination with the PI, sr. research program coordinator, and the team.
Design and implement new processes and systems to ensure efficient program implementation and operations.
Coordinate the development of REDCap and CARE Ware tracking databases/spreadsheets/monthly reporting to highlight specific patient-service intakes, ensuring high-quality data collection across study team.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of assigned protocol, implement interventions to boost participation retention as required, design data collection forms when necessary, and manage research charts, source documentations, and administrative resources for each subject.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain and track HIV prevention inventory under the scope of EIS.
Initiate solutions for participation flow, recruitment challenges, and staffing issues as they arise.
Safeguard study data and supporting documents through storage on the JH shared drive and SAFE Desktop.
Work with the sr. research program coordinator and collaborative partners to address problems, ensuring accurate data collection, prioritizing patient well-being, and fulfill regulatory document requirements from sponsors and IRB regulations.
Actively engage in STI/HIV workshops vital for LGBTQ+ youth research, including evidence-based studies on outreach, retention, and care and HIV prevention.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
Data analysis experience helpful.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail are highly desired, as is the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision, and comfort being part of a diverse professional team.
Self-motivated and actively seeking to further develop skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience managing clinical research databases.
Must be familiar with medical terminology.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once.
Familiarity with Qualtrics and/or REDcap.
Proven writing skills.
