Job Overview
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety is looking fora Health and Safety Professional. This position will report to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety andwill support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff andall our activities.
Under general supervision from the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, this position will assist in healthand safety program development with emphasis on laboratory related issues and safety. This position will conductaudits of laboratories approved for biologics and/or chemicals and provide training and technical assistance forhealth and safety matters. Perform necessary analysis/evaluations and make recommendations to ensurecompliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in relevant areas. Assist in the generation andmonitoring of inventories (chemical and/or biohazardous). Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations andrules and advise appropriate personnel of any governmental and/or university policy violations. Position will shareon-call responsibilities on a rotation schedule.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree must be in industrial hygiene, physical science, chemistry or biology.
Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Must obtain 'trustworthy and reliable status' as outlined by Ohio Department of Health within three (3) months of employment.

Work experience must be in basic or clinical research, health physics or compliance.

Atmospheric Conditions: Conditions that affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
Close Quarters: Employees are frequently required to work in crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, sewage and water line pipes, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
