The Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to coordinate the administrative and scientific implementation of a number of research studies. Under supervision of the Research Manager and Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will assist the research team with the conduct of long-term AHRQ-funded or other investigator-initiated research protocols examining the transmission and progression of hospital-associated infections, diagnostic and antibiotic stewardship, and infection prevention.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate the implementation of study protocols in collaboration with the Research Program Manager, PI, and co-investigators.
Maintain good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
Adhere to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
Conduct data collection (e.g. abstraction of clinical data from electronic medical records) and maintenance for research study, using RedCap, MS Excel, or similar programs.
Laboratory duties include basic lab skills: processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples.
Follow federal, state, and institutional laws and guidelines to access and maintain confidential paper and electronic records related to the research trial.
Prepare and submit annual renewal requests, amendments and adverse event reports with clinical input according to IRB and Sponsor requirements, with assistance.
Recruit volunteers and obtain informed consent, if applicable to research protocol.
Monitor subject accrual and follow up visits.
Meet regularly with research team to review data accuracy and overall study progress.
Asist in website and social media content development and maintenance when the opportunity arises.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) to maintain databases, spreadsheets, and word processing is required.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail are highly desired, as is the ability to work independently.
Demonstrate an ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision, and comfort being part of a diverse professional team.
Ability to flex schedule at the Research Manager's request to work some evenings or weekends as required by study needs, however most work will be accomplished during normal work hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical or medical research setting.
Prior experience with the Johns Hopkins or equivalent IRB.
Familiarity with Qualtrics and/or REDcap.
