TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS)-Advanced Carbon Mineralization Initiative, to assume a position as a microbiology laboratory manager. Will organize laboratory orders, maintain stocks and chemicals, make media, prepare materials and microbial cultures, develop and record experimental protocols, and ensure the implementation of the EHS-safety protocols. Additional duties will include training new staff and students on safety and relevant experimental protocols, culturing and analyzing anaerobic microbial communities, conducting simple chemical assays of solutions and solids, managing the daily workflow related to the project, managing instrument maintenance and repair, and overseeing special projects as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in microbiology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, environmental chemistry, or related field; two years of experience working in a wet laboratory; ability to work with minimal supervision in a team setting; and good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of extension based on funding.
