The Department of Emergency Health Services (EHS) at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer for the 2022-23 academic year with the potential for renewal based on performance and the availability of funding. The position involves a mix of teaching and service to the department based on the qualifications, experience, and interests of the individual selected for the position. The EHS Department is in the process of updating curricular offerings to meet the evolving emergency health landscape. We are excited to invite new perspectives into this process.
We seek a candidate to teach in our undergraduate and/or graduate programs including clinical courses (EMT/EMR, MICRB certified), emergency management, disaster science, epidemiology, and/or writing intensive courses. Interest in or experience with the following is desirable: mentoring student capstone experiences, innovative course design or teaching methods, student learning assessment, and curriculum development. We value a candidate who can teach from differing points of view, engage diverse student populations, and has a commitment to or experience in fostering inclusive excellence.
The candidate will hold a terminal degree in emergency health services or related field. Doctorate (i.e., PhD, JD) or ABD in emergency management, disaster science, public health, or related field with a focus on emergency health, hazards, or disasters preferred.
