The Department of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons is seeking early and mid-career principal investigators with a strong passion for clinical and health services research to push the forefront of acute care science. We particularly welcome candidates with interests in behavioral and psychiatric care (e.g., substance use disorders, mental health emergencies), cardiovascular disease, epidemiology and health psychology/occupational health (e.g., healthcare workforce burnout).
Our research division has a broad range of topical expertise in acute care disease, including cardiovascular, neuropsychiatric, bioinformatics, and translational science. Strong mentorship exists both within our department and through ongoing collaborations across the larger university including bioinformatics, translational science, and population health. Research faculty will receive robust support from our existing infrastructure including pre and post award planning and grant management by our dedicated research administrative team. Additionally, research faculty will be supported by a team of full-time research coordinators and interns, in addition to IRB, statistical, and data analyst support. Opportunities for cross- departmental research and teaching collaborations with faculty, house staff, and medical students are highly encouraged, and research faculty will have the full breadth of institutional resources to optimize and support individual faculty development and growth.
We are inviting applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree) and have demonstrated excellence in research and a high level of productivity in their field, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications/presentations and the potential to secure external funding.
