Position Overview:
The Custodial Training and Quality Assurance Coordinator is a non-exempt, regular, benefit-eligible staff position reports to the Manager of Custodial Services, and is responsible for developing and maintaining robust quality assurance and training programs for custodial services.
Work Schedule:
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, occasional evening and weekend hours and for emergencies outside of regular work hours.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Training (40%)
Create and deliver a comprehensive training program covering cleaning techniques, equipment usage, chemical safety, and safety protocols.
Coordinate custodial training events
Maintain custodial training manual; update as necessary with industry standard practices.
Identify quality control issues based on building inspection report findings; address and provide additional training to custodial teams in timely fashion
In coordination with Environmental Health and Safety Specialist and Training Coordinator, ensure custodial staff uphold and adhere to all safety standards
Quality Assurance (40%)
In coordination with Custodial Services Manager, develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols specifically tailored for custodial services
Conduct regular inspections of facilities to assess cleanliness, adherence to standards, and identify areas for improvement.
Maintain detailed records of building inspections; prepare reports for custodial management team.
Identify and recommend corrective action if necessary
Recommend process improvement based on report findings
Onboarding (10%)
Partner with Human Resources to ensure all new employee onboarding items are completed in Workday; create a cohesive onboarding experience.
Ensure new employees have completed required trainings by the established deadlines.
Guide new custodial employees through the two-week onboarding program; serve as a primary resource for new custodial employees.
Coordinate with Custodial Services Manager and Custodial Supervisors for higher-level training needs (pool certification, carpet maintenance, etc.)
Other (10%)
Maintain a clear understanding of the entire custodial operation at Carleton College.
Support Custodial Services Manager with campus event coordination and setup; knowledge of Carleton’s event spaces and safety requirements for each space.
Act as delegate for time entry approval and time off requests as necessary.
Review and assign custodial work orders
Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:
A.A. degree and 3 years of similar/related experience or 5 years of related experience
Excellent oral communications, writing skills, organizational skills, and a high degree of word processing and computer knowledge required (Microsoft Suite including Excel, Google Suite, etc).
Analytical skills to interpret data and recommend and make recommendations for improvement in custodial services
Valid driver’s license
Knowledge of custodial practices and methods
Preferred:
Working knowledge of quality assurance plans relevant to custodial services
Experience training custodial staff
Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
