Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children?s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine?s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences (DEPHS) is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.
The DEPHS conducts world-renowned research and offers graduate training in environmental health, epidemiology, occupational safety, molecular genetics and public health. The department has over 35 full-time faculty and over 200 students in five divisions (Epidemiology, Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology, Environmental and Occupational Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and Public Health Sciences). The DEPHS?s research portfolio for environmental, occupational and public health is among the top in the nation. Research funding for the DEPHS comes from NIH, the American Heart Association, NIOSH, industry, foundations, and a variety of federal, state and local agencies.
A full time Research Assistant Professor Faculty position is available in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The successful appointee will become a faculty member of the Division of Environmental and Occupational Hygiene.
Essential Functions
The successful appointee will become a member of a highly rated program that produces leaders in the health and safety profession. The Division of Environmental and Industrial Hygiene (EIH) provides training for both master's and doctoral level students and is fully accredited by ABET. The EIH faculty members have established research in exposure assessment and control, ergonomics, aerosol science and technology, bioaerosols, risk assessment, biological monitoring, and toxicology. The EIH faculty are active members of the NIOSH-sponsored Education and Research Center (ERC), which has been continuously funded for 45 years. Interactions with researchers at Cincinnati Children's and VA Hospitals, as well as NIOSH and USEPA, both of which have major laboratory facilities nearby are common and encouraged.
Minimum Requirements
Doctoral degree in industrial hygiene or relevant science or engineering field.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Strong record of scholarship, funded research, excellence in teaching, advising, and service in the area of environmental, occupational or public health.
Relevant industrial and/or post-doctoral training experience, especially in exposure assessment and control with emerging pollutants.
