Job Description Summary
The Institute for the Environment and Sustainability seeks a Director to provide leadership for the interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate programs of the Institute. The Director will supervise the core faculty and staff of the Institute, and coordinate with chairs and directors of other academic units in furthering the interdisciplinary programs of the Institute.
Job Description
They will maintain an active, externally funded research program and expand partnerships to facilitate the growth of scholarship and external funding in the area of environmental science at Miami University. The Director will teach courses in their area of expertise, recruit and advise students, and engage in alumni and donor development.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Ph.D., teaching experience and research accomplishments in an area broadly related to Environmental Science that would warrant a tenured appointment as an associate or full professor, and administrative experience suggesting a demonstrated ability to lead an interdisciplinary academic program.
Consideration will be given to applicants that have a strong record of interdisciplinary scholarship, demonstrated record of externally funded research, and professional experience in applied environmental and sustainability issues.

The Institute was founded in 1969 as the Institute of Environmental Science and its Master of Environmental Science professional degree program has produced over 700 alumni who have pursued careers in the public and private sectors. In 2010, the Institute was reorganized as an umbrella institute for all undergraduate and graduate education and research on the environment and sustainability at Miami University.
