Summary
The Stockroom Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Stores Operations Manager in performing and coordinating the daily operations of the Division of Biology and Medicine's Stockrooms located in the downtown and/or on the College Hill campus locations based on business needs. These responsibilities include issuing and delivery of stock items; shipping, receiving and delivery of materials, including biohazardous, radioactive/chemical materials, live specimens and dry ice; ordering of laboratory gasses, and related duties to support the Division operations, such as distribution of express mail. Logs, scans, barcodes chemical inventory for the EHS Chemical Environmental Management System database. The Stockroom Coordinator is responsible for the transportation of mail (packages, letters, etc.) for the Division's off-campus locations. Additionally, this position assumes the responsibilities of the Stockroom Coordinator at 70 Ship Street and/or 34 Olive Street, when necessary, which includes all related Stockroom and general duties as assigned.
BioMed Facilities Planning and Operations supports Brown University's research and academic mission through careful stewardship development of physical facilities and infrastructure within the Division of Biology and Medicine. This department serves the operational needs of the faculty, staff and students within the Division by managing construction, building operations and space maintenance. The stockroom stores operations orders, manages, and distributes scientific supplies to teaching and research labs. This area also handles the coordination of laboratory gas services for life sciences researchers and handles all the shipping and receiving of mail, packages, and equipment. Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required: Associates degree or other specialized training following high school, plus a minimum of 1-2 years' experience, preferably in a stockroom and/or shipping and receiving,
Required: Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Experience with packages and mail delivery services, stockroom environment is a plus.
And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Competencies
Successful completion of motor vehicle review and authorized driver training program upon hire.
A good understanding and knowledge of Stockroom operations.
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with little or no supervision.
Ability to handle physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing workload in an efficient and timely manner.
Ability to understand and comply with federal, state, local and University requirements and regulations.
Ability for handling/dealing with specialty items such as biohazardous, radioactive/chemical materials and live specimens, etc.
Ability to work well with a diverse population, as this position interacts with a large number and variety of individuals.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to use a PC computer along with various packages such as Foxpro, Excel, Word and other applications.
Ability to apply mathematical aptitude to daily tasks and problem-solving
This position frequently communicates to faculty and staff who inquire about their orders either verbally or via email. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
Requires someone with enthusiasm while maintaining a positive attitude; someone who is service-oriented and able to interact with various types of individuals under a variety of circumstances in a diverse environment.
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
