Position Information:
Working supervisor to manage and supervise the maintenance, repair and minor alterations of tractors and related equipment located at two UCR field stations managed by Agricultural Operations. Responsible for supervising the day-to-day shop activities and ensuring compliance with local, county and state regulations.

The full salary range for the Garage Manager is $66,500 - $118,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $66,500 - $92,400 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Typically requires an Associate degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

4 - 7 years of related experience.

Minimum of 4 - 5 years of experience with practical farm functions.

Minimum 2 years automotive industry experience.

Previous supervisory / managerial experience.

Minimum Requirements

Supervisory experience; ability to effectively supervise technical personnel.

Interpersonal skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume environment, organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities, and manage staff time and effort accordingly to provide exceptional customer service.

Working knowledge of repair, maintenance and storage of fleet vehicles. Ability to perform industry-standard diagnostic and troubleshooting testing.

Ability to operate personal computers, office software, computerized vehicle maintenance programs, and other specialized diagnostic devices and power tools.

Knowledge of all applicable codes, rules and regulations related to maintenance and repair of fleet.

Ability to perform basic mathematical and budget operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of university policies and procedures.

Ability to obtain and maintain specialty certification within automotive industry such as the Automotive Service Excellence certifications (ASE).

Generic Scope
Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or organizational policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.

Custom Scope
Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Supervises team or shift of operational/technical personnel to ensure technical adequacy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.

Department Custom Scope
Working supervisor to manage and supervise the maintenance, repair and minor alterations of equipment at two field stations under Agricultural Operations. Supervises maintenance and repair of equipment and fleet vehicles. Analyze, prepare budget projections, and record keeping as required.
