What Machine Operation contributes to Cardinal Health
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup
Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments
Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds
Measures, marks, and scribes? dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working technical leader, keep up-to-date records and maintain databases, coordinate preventative maintenance work orders and general repair and upkeep of molds in the plant. Responsible for assigned work orders and unscheduled maintenance and repairs of molds.
Shift Details
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday: 7:00 pm to 7:00 am and Sunday: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
Accountabilities
Coordinate and perform unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and modifications on assigned equipment as needed and document changes as required by operating procedures. Assist in the maintenance of manufacturing equipment and molds and provide instruction to Maintenance Technicians personnel during maintenance or repair. Provide technical assistance as requested and arrange for technical support if necessary to complete repairs.
Ensure proper set-up of molds and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications at the completions of assigned tasks.
Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP?s), ISO 13485 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures.
Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of Cardinal Health employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources, and protects the environment.
Complete all paperwork pertaining to the finished product and Maximo system being produced according to established guidelines in manufacturing procedures.
Report any unusual or unacceptable circumstances to on site supervisor.
Responsible to observe department?s regulations and to use personal protective equipment as required. Must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained.
Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas.
Complete Annual Hazardous waste (RCRA) refresher training
Experience maintaining and repairing injections molding presses (hydraulic and electric) and the auxiliary equipment used in the molding operation.
Ability to work on hydraulics systems, electrical and electronic equipment
Technically support operations of production machines and ancillary equipment for equipment installations start up and trouble shooting of molding machinery, resin and conveyance systems and ancillary equipment.
Perform unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and modifications on assigned equipment as needed and document changes as required by plant procedure.
Dismantle, disassemble, repair, rebuild, clean, replace, or re-assemble worn or defective parts and components as necessary. Diagnose and troubleshoot pneumatic, mechanical and electrical malfunctions. Make necessary adjustments or corrections
Work with manufacturing engineering department for equipment modifications
Use a variety of power tools and equipment and is responsible to maintain the tools in good working order. Example: drills, grinders, saws, drill press, hydraulic press. Comply with all facility safety procedures, i.e. lockout/tagout procedures
Qualifications
One year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferred.
4-5 years medical device manufacturing related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferred.
